Tapi Udah Harus Terbang

Pekanbaru, 1 September 2015           Klung.. klung.. klung.. bunyi itu terdengar kembali setelah beberapa hari tidak ada suaranya. Senangnya aku bisa mendengarnya lagi, berarti tandanya sinyal lagi bagus, hahaha ( tertawa dalam hati sambil muka senyum-senyum sendiri di pojokan kamar dekat rak biru). Alhamdulillah banyak BM masuk walaupun udah telat tiga hari ( teung).           Kemarin sudah dibuat DP sama abang senior FISIP, hari ini gantian aku yang jadikan DP sambil nulis “ Universitas Riau tidak masuk 10 besar di MTQMN XIV di tahun ini, semoga tahun depan semakin lebih baik (emot bersyukur)”. “Bantu share ya dek.” “Oke bang.” Takut nyama-nyamain DP sama abang itu kemarin-kemarin, jadi setelah dipikir-pikir mendingan pakai DP itu besok-besok aja (tipe orang yang ga mau disama-samain). ******************************************************* “IPB juga ndak masuk, hehe..” Ab...

The Reasons Why We learn English as Our Subject

Based on Tom McArthur,   English as used in South-East Asia falls into two broad types: second-language varieties in countries that were formerly colonies or protectorates of an English-speaking power (Britain in the case of Brunei Darussalam , Malaysia, and Singapore; the US in the case of the Philippines); and foreign-language varieties in Cambodia/Kampuchea, Indonesia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. In the first group, students in English-medium schools were not only taught English but learned other subjects through it; they were expected to use English in the playground, and there were often penalties for using anything else. Such education began with the establishment of the Penang Free School in 1816 and the Singapore Free School in 1823.  In Indonesia, English becomes foreign language for society because Indonesia is not  formerly colonies or protectorates of Britain.
